My Journey into Oriental Medicine: Training at Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine

At Purely You Spa, I’ve always been passionate about helping others feel their best. Recently, I’ve taken this passion even further by pursuing formal training at Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine to become a licensed practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which is an Acupuncture Physician and Herbal Medicine.

In a world increasingly drawn to holistic health and integrative medicine, Dragon Rises College stood out to me as a place where I could explore the connection between body, mind, and spirit through ancient healing practices. I chose this institution because it bridges centuries-old Eastern traditions with modern medical insights, offering an educational experience that aligns perfectly with my belief in treating the whole person, not just symptoms. This school is recognized nationally for pulse diagnosis.

Oriental medicine, or TCM, includes practices like acupuncture, herbal medicine, tui na (therapeutic massage), cupping, and qigong. At Dragon Rises, I’m not only learning these techniques but also the philosophy behind them harmony, balance, and the flow of energy (Qi) which forms the foundation of Eastern healing. This approach resonates with me completely, and I’m excited to bring it into my work with clients.

I’m truly enjoying the immersive, hands-on approach that the program offers. With fully equipped herbal laboratories and teaching clinics, I get to practice my skills in real-world settings under the guidance of experienced instructors. During clinical rotations, I work with a diverse patient population, which is helping me develop critical thinking, cultural competence, and the ability to provide compassionate, effective care.

Dragon Rises College is also a hub for research. I’ve had the opportunity to see how faculty and students explore the effectiveness of herbal formulas, acupuncture techniques, and integrative treatments for chronic conditions like pain, stress, and digestive disorders. Combining traditional knowledge with scientific inquiry shows me how evidence-based holistic care can make a real difference in people’s lives.

I’m currently in my second year of training and have about seven semesters left before taking the four board exams required for licensure. Every day I feel more confident and inspired as I move closer to being able to provide safe, effective, and holistic care to my clients.

Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine is more than a school to meet a community of passionate healers, a place where tradition meets innovation, and a gateway to helping others achieve lasting wellness. I’m excited to continue this journey and bring the benefits of Oriental medicine to my work at Purely You Spa.
